TIC Klopotec

Petar Preradović house

In this rural home, now a protected cultural monument, grew up the famous poet and military officer Petar Preradović, who was granted nobility by Emperor Franz Joseph I. Behind its doors lies a modern multimedia center that brings his life and era to visitors in an innovative way.

Drava landscape and Križnica

The Drava River, one of Europe’s best-preserved natural rivers, forms some of its most beautiful landscapes right here in the Virovitica-Podravina region. One special highlight is Križnica — a unique river island and the last remnant of the ancient Pannonian Sea, accessible only by boat or pedestrian bridge.

Green route

Virovitica-Podravina County boasts unique natural richness — from the UNESCO Global Geopark Papuk to the cross-border Mura–Drava–Danube Biosphere Reserve and areas protected under the Natura 2000 network. Around 1,300 plant and animal species have been recorded in the region — nearly one-third of Croatia’s entire biodiversity.

Drava Sands (Dravski Peski)

Often called the “Croatian Sahara,” this sandy landscape stretches from Đurđevac to Kloštar Podravski and has been a protected geographic-botanical reserve since 1963. After the last Ice Age, the swollen Drava carried particles of sand from the Alps, and during dry periods, strong winds created a true desert-like area.

Papuk Nature Park

It covers an area of 336 square kilometers with an exceptional diversity of plant and animal life. Papuk Nature Park also includes three areas of special protection, namely: Rupnica – a geological monument of nature famous for its columnar formation of volcanic rocks; Jankovac Forest Park – a mountain valley surrounded by a centuries-old beech forest with the karst phenomenon of the Jankovački slap and Sekulinačka planina – a special forest vegetation reserve – a beech and fir forest about 150 years old with a primeval forest character.

Drava story visitor center

The luxurious 19th-century building, once the summer residence of Count Drašković, now houses an interpretation center that guides you through the riches of the Drava River. Discover the world of owls, butterflies, and songbirds, explore forest trails filled with the magic of fairies and elves, or step into the science station. In the spacious park, white storks, ponds with turtles, aviaries, a treetop walkway, and educational gardens await you.

Križnica visitor center

Discover the charm of Križnica, the only inhabited river island in Croatia. Enjoy unforgettable boat rides on the Drava, watch protected bird species in their natural habitat, try fishing, or explore the landscape on two wheels along the many cycling paths.
